OAD’s Volunteer program

Become a volunteer for our flagship initiative “FOODGOALS” to help implement our programs and projects capable of empowering the youth and women through their employment along the agricultural value chain.

Be a volunteer for our current project FOODGARDENS that seeks to revive, repackage and sustain interest in backyard/micro-gardens/urban farming with emphasis on urban households and schools across Ghana to substantially support their annual food consumption through availability of additional produce.

 

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Volunteers as a:

Field Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant

·       Monitor and verify outputs of activities in the field including identifying and documenting success stories and tracking project progress

·       Liaise with field staff and partners in compiling coherent and activity specific progress report

·       Participate in joint work planning and sharing of results and experience with relevant partners

·       Share learning experience from M&E process with the wider team

·       Other relevant activities assigned by supervisor

Data Collection (Gathering) Assistant

·       Assist with film interviews with cameras/camcorders

·       Perform data collection and processing activities

·       Share learning experience from data collection process with the wider team

·       Other relevant activities assigned by supervisor

Communications and Social Media Assistant

·       Provision of high quality activities and ensuring

·       Promote fun/ interactive learning

·       Coordinating and supervising club formation and club progress

·        Initiate close liaison with school representatives and supportive agencies

·       Share learning experience from with the wider team

·       Other relevant activities assigned by supervisor

FOODGARDEN Club Facilitator

·       Assisting with the production of campaign materials

·       Regularly monitor donor websites and identify investor opportunities matching the work of the organization

·       Maintain relationships with existing and potential investors and donors and respond to their requests

·       Update the donors on progress of the current project

·       Offer innovative ideas for effective resource mobilization

·       Ensure donors and sponsors are acknowledged in all activities 

·       Share learning experience from with the wider team

·       Other relevant activities assigned by supervisor

Fundraising Assistant

·       Assisting with the production of campaign materials

·       Regularly monitor donor websites and identify investor opportunities matching the work of the organization

·       Maintain relationships with existing and potential investors and donors and respond to their requests

·       Update the donors on progress of the current project

·       Offer innovative ideas for effective resource mobilization

·       Ensure donors and sponsors are acknowledged in all activities 

·       Share learning experience from with the wider team

·       Other relevant activities assigned by supervisor

 

Duration: One Month (4weeks Minimum), three months, six months and One year maximum

 

OUR VOLUNTEER’S PACKAGE:

We offer a second to none experience and direct interaction with target beneficiaries of our project as volunteers are actively engaged in every of our interventions.

  • Orientation on Ghana’s visa processes, culture, economy, health and political situations (information package), at least a month before your departure to Ghana.
  • Airport pickup and drop off: An OAD Volunteers Coordinating Team member will be awaiting at the airport upon your arrival to provide assistance with luggage and baggage as well as accommodation. For your departure from Ghana, an OAD volunteers coordinating team member will provide you with all the help and assistance you could use.
  • City Tour: OAD Volunteers Coordinating Team member will take you around the city on your first day, showing you locations such as banks, canteens and market where you could purchase ingredients, public transportation venues, recreational centers of arts and culture, and other avenues which location and services you would require in the line of work.
  • Volunteers Housing: OAD’s major sponsor AGVL can help you arrange for well secured and moderately priced accommodation for your period of stay ahead of time before your arrival. AGVL which is a reputable Real Estate and Property Management Company who rents out furnished apartments to volunteers for any desired period of stay at most affordable prices and closest to place of work, will arrange accommodation at a separate charge that volunteers must pay.
  • Monthly trips: OAD’s Volunteer Coordinating Team arranges for monthly trips to places interest (tourist attraction sites) across the country and to its borders for our volunteers at very affordable prices. For certain number of tours within the capital-Accra, OAD can afford to bear the cost of transportation and entry fees for our volunteers.
  • Our Project coverage: also allows the Volunteer to experience firsthand interaction with target beneficiaries of our interventions. Because our FOODGARDENS projects advocates across major cities and schools in Ghana, Volunteers get the opportunity to visit all such places whiles meeting new people.  
  • Service: Our Volunteers Coordinating Team contact persons would be standing by within our working hours to answer all your question and give all the necessary assistance you may require.

Application fee 500 € / $ 670 (The fee is the same regardless of the duration of your stay. This is a general donation and volunteers in some cases can suggest to OAD the use to put the amount donated.)

To apply as a group of volunteers each individual in the group must apply separately and pay the amount involved but indicate the status as being part of the group.
