OAD celebrates farmers & fishermen of Winneba

In commemoration of the farmer’s day celebrations (2nd December, 2016) the Organisation for African Development lead by it Executive Director, Mr. Bonaventure Aguissi organised a remarkable fun packed football match between the farmers and fishermen in the Winneba municipality in the Central Region of Ghana.

 

The match was played in recognition and appreciation for the hard work of the farmers and the fishermen within the Winneba municipality and to promote peace before, during and after the 2016 general elections. The football match between the Simpa and Winneba youth wing of the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) drew audience from households and ended in a 2-0 penalty shoot-outs in favour of Winneba.

There was display of sportsmanship and talent from the young and energetic youth in the community of Winneba towards winning prices provided by OAD. The participants of the football match won various prizes such as sets of jerseys, trophies, footballs, cash among others.

An Ambassador of OAD, Coach Ibrahim Sunday a formal player of the national team of Ghana- black stars, whilst presenting prices to the winners took the occasion to commend the young talent and urged them to take their training seriously in order to surge higher with their football ambitions.

The Director of OAD, Mr. Bonaventure Aguissi in his speech commended the farmers and fishermen in the municipality for sustaining the community with their good food and again stressed on the need for peace and unity before, during and after the elections. He enjoined the young talent to be relentless in their football endeavors and again tasked them to explore the lucrative opportunities presented along the agricultural value chain.
