OAD Supports Street Children Empowerment Foundation (SCEF)

The Organisation for African Development (OAD) led by its founder and Executive Director, Mr. Bonaventure Aguissi have donated some computers to the Street Children Empowerment Foundation (SCEF) a community focused Non-Governmental Organisation that supports vulnerable children at Jamestown in Accra. The purpose of the donation is to boost the capacity of SCEF’s ICT laboratory.  Aside the donation, Mr. Aguissi adopted some of the children as his “godchildren” to support their educational upkeep.

The intervention feeds into OADs broad mandate which includes the eradication of extreme poverty and hunger amongst the most vulnerable in society especially children. This follows in line with OAD’s previous interventional support to the Dzorwulu special School and Agape Children’s Home, as well as support for the construction of the Tarkwa Government Hospital Children’s ward, among others. These events were also supported by OAD’s sister institutions: Zhilinet Limited and Aguissi Global Vision Limited (AGVL).

Receiving the items on behalf of his organisation, Mr. Paul Semeh, Founder and Executive Director of SCEF showed appreciation to OAD and Mr. Aguissi for the kind gesture and encouraged other benevolent organisations to follow OADs footsteps. Mr. Semeh also assured OAD that the computers shall be put to good use and will help in executing SCEFs mission which is to achieve sustainable improvements in the lives of street and deprived children in James Town.

SCEF was founded when Paul Semeh discovered that 36% of street children who started government school were dropping out within three months. Many of them were the first person in their family to attend school. Without support, the challenges quickly became overwhelming. SCEF realized that these students needed a support system.
