Roy "Gramps" Morgan agrees to be appointed OAD Goodwill Ambassador!!

Mr. Roy "Gramps" Morgan, the Grammy award winning international Reggae Artist of Morgan Heritage fame has agreed to be a Goodwill Ambassador for the Organisation for African Development (OAD) during a visit to the organisation on the 18th March, 2016 at its office at Abelemkpe – Accra, Ghana.

Mr. Morgan mentioned that he was very impressed by the impact driven projects being implemented by OAD, he accepted the nomination to be a Goodwill Ambassador for the Organisation, to work in rallying his colleague celebrities all over the world to join hands with OAD in driving these evidence-based initiatives, especially in the area of attracting youth into agriculture.

Being a farmer himself Mr. Morgan expressed his desire to show the youth the lucrativeness of agriculture and to apply OAD’s unique approach to make agriculture "sexy" and attractive to the youth.

Mr. Morgan, is an artist passionate about helping others in need, established the charity Music Orchestrating Miracles (MOM) to help bring relief to the needy in various parts of the world. In Africa, MOM works in conjunction with various medical organizations to provide mosquito nets, malaria medication, HIV test kits and water purification tablets amongst other resources in remote areas. The organization was also part of various benefit concerts aimed at collecting funds and resources for the people of Haiti and most recently Japan. MOM has been operating since early 2010 and continues to make strides in helping to alienate human suffering due to poverty, diseases and natural catastrophes. He is also involved into farming in Kenya and has the dream to do so in Ghana.

At a later meeting at UNESCO office in Ghana, the Head of Office and Country Representative, Mr. Tirso Dos Santos welcomed Mr. Morgan and his decision to work with OAD to champion the cause of humanity. Being a working partner of OAD, Mr. Dos Santos expressed UNESCO’s delight in support of the partnership between OAD and Mr. Morgan. He encouraged both parties to continue to work assiduously to make the difference that society so needs. He further pledged the support of his office to always support OAD’s projects. He called on Mr. Morgan to bring in more of his colleagues to join in this noble gesture.

Mr. Aguissi, Founder of OAD explained that Mr. Morgan has already pledged to rally international stars who would be joining the celebrities OAD has already signed on in implementing these Initiatives.

Mr. Aguissi also made a humble plea to UNESCO to honour these celebrities for their contributions to the welfare of humanity. Mr. Dos Santos embraced the idea, he then applauded OAD for the initiative and requested for very proactive measures to be put in place to take full advantage of the opportunities this partnership presented.

Mr. Roy "Gramps" Morgan is expected back in the country very soon with his colleague celebrities for the AFAR Awards FOODGOALS launch in Ghana under the patronage of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana.

To Mr. Roy "Gramps" Morgan we say Congratulation! Ayekoo for this noble feat, you are indeed a role model, not only to the youth but to your colleague celebrities. You are indeed welcome to the family.
